About the work
Explore iconic concepts of art in this large-scale painting, which reflects on both historic and contemporary masterpieces – from Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Grant Wood’s American Gothic to Munch’s The Scream and Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, among many others. Outlines of Jeff Koons’ Puppy blend into neighboring motifs through shared colors and intersecting contours – such as a large skull in the upper left and a male portrait in the upper right.
