The movement of the sea in an ornamental, restrained mood. The surface opens wide, the horizon runs calmly, and the light rests as a bright strip across the water. The waves are shallow, foamy, barely broken, carrying the reflections like fine lines and patterns. The foreground is broad and clear, belonging to the incoming tide that reaches the shore in a narrow hem. The painted traces of brightness seem inscribed by the light itself, emerging from the darkness of the wet surface.
